We are NO LONGER in search of a ranged DPS (hunter, ele, spriest, warlock) for MoP for our A-team (see information here at http://tpd.wowstead.com/forums/the-platinum-dragons-public/heroics-and-raids/1674215-mop-raiding). Thanks for your interest in the position. If you're still interested, see the last line of this post.
Priors: gearing up to being serious about raiding again, we just skimmed T12H and cleared 8/8H in T13H (both 10-man groups) on our 4-5 hour schedule (expanded in MoP for the A-team).
Have questions? Find one of my toons online and ask. Elsewise, leave an application here or contact me in game; find some way to tell me you're fun and competent and we'll see what happens.
Bench/fill-ins (main or alt) are welcome to contact me as well for all positions.

He WILL die! I swear this! On the blood of our fallen, for the sake of our pride and because I want my Damned ICE CREAM!
Edit: The ice cream was delicious.

See the latest posts section for our upcoming setup for raiding in MoP, with the A-team and B-team. As much information as you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Also, for anyone that couldn't find us more easily: http://www.worldoflogs.com/guilds/141374/ for Group 1, and the occasions that Group 2 logs to post. Group 2 changes are on-going, and both groups have 1 spot open at this point in time.
Keep in touch! Also, launching a new sub-forum for boss-specific threads on things we can discuss in detail, which will be kicked off with pictures of our Hagara lightning phase approach (aka WTF THE DAMAGE WHY ARE THERE ONLY TEN OF US OH GOD WHY) shortly. Checking before raids mandatory on progression fights between progression nights, and posting encouraged.

I'm updating our forums with "fun stuff" pictures from WoW, please feel free to contribute and we'll get some lulz happening.

This is Herpuderp, my mage on Gilneas until they open more character slots on Turalyon. Herpuderp wants to feel pretty. Other fun mog pictures are definitely welcomed. Thread should be showing under "latest posts".

So, uh, yeah.
Another couple months go bye, we didn't breeze through but cruise-controlled our way into normal mode Dragon Soul, refined our tactics each step of the way, battered through Blackhorn, completed Madness without any outside guide or information, and now we're wailing away at hard modes on our 4 hour a week raid schedule.
Nooot baaaad.
In all seriousness, I'm proud of all of you, and the teamwork you bring to our raids every week. You guys are great. Congratulations on downing Deathwing, welcome to heroics, let's see what we can get done over the next couple of weeks!
-Kael, leader of Mittens' Abuse House, Who Let the Cats Out, Nobody Sap That!. and other bad guild puns

Why is it rotationally symmetric? (Thank you, Daily Blink)
We're up to Rag and facing the normal layout of time-issues and people being unavailable, but nothing's really changed. For anyone that missed it, we're running 9:30-12:00 server W/M now, back half an hour, with the same end time.
I don't really have any other significant news, but thanks to everyone for being downright epic. See you at the big fire boy.
-
So that was our 2 hour, 4/7 pre-clear to work on Alysrazor Monday.
Oh, yeah. Bosses we've only downed once are totally welcome to be done in under 30 minutes (trash included) the following week. That's just how we roll.
On the subject of how we roll, or more specifically WHEN we roll, we're looking at some issues with time commitments. Miliham's new job has some really painful time constraints, people have families, jobs, school, and other pain in the arse obligation. One upcoming change is that Depht's new schedule precludes her from our current raid times, and Sky can't consistently make raids due to work scheduling. The only option I see if we don't want to have 13-14 raiders we just kinda "keep on call" (which I hate doing, even when they consent to it -- this means you, Dart, and Smash. I'd rather tell you we've got a spot) or PuG weekly, is to re-evaluate schedules. I know that Depht's schedule only needs to move our raid by... half an hour, if I recall correctly, but since we need to make a change, we may as well reevaluate the entire system of times. Again.
Please RESPOND to this News post with your times and availability on a weekly basis, STARTING in 3 weeks. For future raid schedules, the next couple of weeks are not relevant. Thanks for your time!
-Ygg
NOTE: I need responses from ALL raiders, not just those who were with us in T11 or whatever. We'll work out the best schedule we can after we've gathered all the information.
-
I've got to say that, while it took us absolutely forever to get a chance to make it in, downing Beth'tilac and Shannox within two hours of our first entry of Firelands was excellent. You guys are great.
That's about it. Let's clean up RhyoGODFIRE and have a chance to try Baleroc or Alysrazor for this coming week ^_^.
-Ygg
-
It's been a little while since we updated the news, so I thought I'd post highlights.
You know, Defender, those pretty phoenixes... patch 4.2 coming out... Firelands frustrations...
And if anyone forgot, we're in the market for a tank right now.
I suppose there isn't a whole lot else to fill in here, other than that I still have far too much free time or I'd have pushed the responsibility of this news post onto one of our other officers ^_^. See you in-game!
-Yggdrasilite
In case anyone has forgotten, raid times are 9-12 server (at night), Monday and Wednesday. If you can't make it, please notify me in game at the earliest convenience, or through a guildie, or by e-mail. Thanks.
-
Weekly run for 8/10 with fight explanations and a decent chunk of time to work on Cho'gall and see Nefarian face to face.
I'd call it a win.
Bravo! Cheers to you all!
To the conclave, and Al'akir!

So we made our way back into BoT while taking a break from the BWD progression. I'm pleased beyond being punched that we took a couple of guests and were still able to down the first three bosses (and trash) amidst changes and explanations and some D/C computer issues on the small outside of two hours. Monday, we strike at Cho'gall, hopefully with time to make our way into BWD for some free gear (at least ODS and Magmaw). So that's the plan full of awesome. Be there. You wouldn't want to miss it.
-Ygg
P.S. Upcoming raids can now be found by hitting J and looking at the main guild tab. Sign up at least 2 days in advance if you're able to make it, or select tentative if you aren't sure. We should be nice to our guests about foreknowledge.
-
So due to the lack of certain people and the lack of applicable healers for Chimaeron we attempted BoT again. Trash wipe naturally, one-shot Halfus on a relatively difficult drake combo lost tanks to the ele trash and then after making a pair of runs at Val and Ther to teach new people and guests our Twins strat Z's comp decided to lock her out of WoW. Thus continuing BoT's string of victories over us via the terrible Log-in boss. One Day ... POW! ZOOM! To the MOON!!!
-
We're going to see more and more occasions where the flexibility of our members is going to be key to continuing to down content. At our current boss-downing rate, we'll be starting heroics in 6 weeks at most. Since heroic raid content is extraordinarily hard to balance for 10-man content, we'll need every advantage we can get. I'm not going to ask you to level your alts, but if you have an Offspec that you're not comfortable with or aren't ready to use on short notice, please either review your offspec or replace it with a more helpful one.
Some examples of where this may be a large boost include: Zjb has picked up a demonology spec, which may pull competitive DPS and will provide Irv/Spirit & our healers with 600-700 spellpower a piece, as well as improved AoE (Maloriak, anyone?). Arnek and myself will be looking at the Beastmaster hunter spec for the possibility of a Bloodlust -- which would be an overall DPS loss but may become necessary for some fights.
In other words, if you're not making use of that 2nd spec, do so. I can't say we'll need or even want you to switch to that other spec or alt character, but having the option may save us a week in raiding or just extraordinarily trivialize encounters.
In that vein, rather than using warrior tanks for jump-positioning on Cho'gall for the adherents, we can run/kite and then use a hunter's taunt opposite a tank's taunt to position the adherents on top of each other. Between that, increased AoE, and AoE snares, the Cho'gall fight should be incredibly easier compared to our last attempts.
Let's keep rockin' forward, 'cause you're all great.

So after figuring out the next debilitating flaw in the boss encounter we down still another of BWD's annoyances. Will our daring adventurers ever reach the end of Blackwing Descent? Will the Blind Dragon ever find his cane? will Finkel's odd mix of genius and crazy get the raid into trouble (again)? Will Irvqwa ever stop getting drops? Will Madiana lifegrip someone back up the elevator again? Tune in next time to find out! Be sure to catch the next episode of THE PLATINUM DRAGONS!!!
-
Well we got ODS pretty well locked in, we killed a really big worm (fishing trip anyone) and took a good shot a the mad-scientist that replaced Putricide, let's kill him dead on Monday and move on to the blind Dragon. Go Us progressing and everything.
-
Yadda, yadda, yadda. Went into BWD, killed Omnitron Defense System for the first time. Got lewts... Brought in my tank for the kill (lolwut?). Woo hoo?
Also... Apparently we are recruiting? WTB Less caster/ranged DPS personally. I want cloth lewts to myself damnit.
Uhh... Go us?
-Spiritnova. Wanter of Cloth Lewts.

It looks like the officers slipped up and forgot to post about our Council kill in BoT on Monday. Whoops, guess I'll just go ahead and get that out of the way.
After some work on the Acendant Council, a relativly clean kill (With me and Z being the 2 deaths), we are that much closer to clearing Bastion of Twilight! Just one boss to go, Cho'Gall. Lets keep up the good work and keep killing those bosses!
-Spiritnova. Melter of faces.
-
Not sure why but Halfus and the twins seemed a bit ... easy... this week, I hope that continues. Then Hienrick, Spirit, and I wiped to the ISP boss. Sorry about that, we tried for 45 minuets to get it back up, but no luck.
But I have a question, would there be enought support to try a run on Friday or Saturday night? I would like to take a look at council before Monday, just so we can get some more data on how the fight is supposed to go. This isn't in anyway a "have to" or something that will happen every week, but I would like to see if we have support for it.

Well,
So we entered BoT again at 9:45 (damn you disappearing instance!) and started on the trash again by 10. An hour and a half later, after learning/re-learning and theorycrafting the fight, we had a nice CLEAN kill of Valiona and Theralion (9/10 alive, 2.5m to enrage). Beautifully done, and wonderful learning curve on the post-twins trash. Council goes down next week! Looks all good, ladies and gentlemen.
-Yggdrasilite, aka Mittens

Evening, ladies and gents.
I will never enjoy being "the bad guy," but you all rely on me to get a job done in many respects, and one of them is progression. I am your raid leader in addition to your guild master, and we're capable of going a long way. We've geared up a a great deal since our first Halfus kill - so what's happening?
The answer is twofold; yes, we've had some harder lineups, but more importantly people are seriously underperforming. We work as a group, and we're only as powerful together as our weakest links. If your DPS or HPS is pushing the lower cut of necessary, or falling under the average NEEDED to finish an encounter, figure out what's going wrong, and do it now. ElitistJerks.com has forums for your class (mostly) with current information, and ElitistJerks.com/rawr.php is helpful for some class/specs in evaluating specific pieces of gear and enchantments.
I want to see all of you at Nefarian and Sinestra, but I will not hold back 9 people for the sake of 1. Don't be someone we're pulling through the tide, or we'll have to cut you loose from the raidgroup. We'll be reevaluating our abilities Monday night.
I wish you all the best of luck and hope to see you over the corpses of our enemies.
-Yggdrasilite
-
I would like to say thank you for the awesome run last night. Honestly I thought that Argaloth was going to wipe him once, and then we were going to kick his tail.... I'm sorry for doubting everyone. A special thank you to the healers in BoT, yall did amazing.
Keep working on your gear, cause I would like to make another attempt at Blackwing Descent this week if we have the time.
-Irvqwa, I can't think of anything cool to put here
-
I'd just like to wish everyone a happy nondenominational seasons greetings! Hope everyone gets what they wanted (I sure as hell did. Woo pants!). Be safe, don't do anything too stupid. And lets start 2011 off right! :D
-Spiritnova. Owner of new pants.
-
I'd love to try Baradin Hold with all of you, but we're not quite at that DPS hurdle yet. Keep running heroics and gearing up, and Vladoka/Quina can work on a tank set they'd be willing to bring to raids. We need Aur's boomkin form periodically, and until bears are in top gear* (past Ygg) they really suffer in comparison to other classses.
Step one: Attempt Baradin Hold when people happen to be on, possibly planned.
Step two: We go back to Blackwing Descent and die again. And again. And again... AND GET MAGMAW AND THE OMNITRON DEFENSE SYSTEM! REEVEEEENGE.
Ygg will be out from the 22nd to the 26th*. Keep leveling the guild with guild groups and whatnot, 'kay? Could use that free money bonus.
Get flasks before we raid!
Ciao.

EDIT: altered for accuracy. News: Ygg vs. Albany, round 1: Ygg, in a pyrrhic victory.

The website is currently under construction, so if you see any... oddities, they should be steamrolled out in the coming... days/weeks/months/...years.
Please bear with us for any issues we may have with the Forums.
